KAMALPUR, Feb 1 (TIWN): The hurly-burly of elections one after another and the business regarding it made the police here to have some happy days with sober atmosphere. And this luxury in performing duty brought happy days for the unlawful activists. Especially, the gamblers and illicit liquor sellers used to pass their business in rapid pace.

Regarding the just concluded urban bodies’ election and the ensuing village committee election the police became virtually busy in the proceedings. And this business made them to heave a sigh of relief from other duties. It could easily be claimed that, police among all those duties could hardly find scope to serve all other aspects. But the ground reality showed it clearly that, the wilful police often shed their duty. And this became prominent in the cases of teer gamblers and illicit liquor sellers.

In and around the sub-division, the teer gamblers and the illicit liquor sellers continued their business in full pace. Some gamblers even pocketed so much profit that they got owned of vehicles including luxury buses and started transportation business. It remained also a fact that, those gamblers used to pocket huge bribes to police every month, as commoners used to speculate. Even some sources of police not spared the retail sellers of petrol and diesel.

Now, the commoners remained the worst sufferers of the situation and found it really hard to cope with the situation. But who would wake up the police?
