BG expansion in Tripura : Facelift work of Agartala Railway station is given priority, Transport Minister talks to TIWN

AGARTALA, Feb 1 (TIWN): With the aim to run the BG passenger train on the newly converted BG track by March 31st, the priority is given to the facelift work of the Agartala railway station. It is to be mentioned here that the workers are engaged in the last touch of the facelift work at Agartala railway station. However, the first BG engine rolling is completed up to Agartala and the ballast train has also made its roll and now its turn for the BG passengers train to make its roll in Agartala. Keeping in mind the roll of the train upto Agartala by March 31 the workers are engaged in completing the work of laying tracks and the other essential works.With the successful run of the BG train engine and ballast train, the NFR is also likely to conduct CRS inspection on the newly converted BG rail track for safety clearance followed by the final run of the BG passenger train in February.Along with the work progress of laying the BG railway track the Agartala railway station is all set to get facelift. Construction of platform work is going on in full-swing at Badarghat railway station. Days are not so far when Tripura will be connected with the map of Broad-gauge railway network system.

The old platform has been broken and new platform are being constructed to accommodate the train.

In a move to ease congestion and to accommodate more number of trains, a new platform is undergoing construction at Agartala railway station.

To strengthen the traffic system, parking plot is scheduled to be constructed and one has to pay for parking vehicles at the entry of the station.

 To maintain safety and security of the platform the authorities is taken this decision. However, the rail authority is not willing to construct an alternative entry gate to the station but it is necessary for emergency purpose and also to avoid the chaos at one particular gate.

Although the rail authority is keen to construct a foot bridge from railway housing complex, which can be only used by the rail officials and not for the common people.

However, the track laying work is almost completed and it is able to run the BG engine on the track but the other essential work regarding drinking water facility, resting place for the passengers and others.

Sources said that, a track is also constructed with the aim to clean the trains at regular interval.

Although the source said that if all the other work is completed apart from laying the track there will be no problem in running the passengers train by March 31.
