Road mishap left 2 injured : Number of road accidents goes up in Tripura

BISHALGARH, Jan 27 (TIWN): One bike rider and 2 years baby were injured in a tragic road mishap at Madhupur Beltali area under Bishalghar police station, here today. The Baby was taken to hospital, said police.

According to the police, the Bike rider was collided with ONGC Tankar  proceeding towards Agartala. As a result, a Baby was sustained grievous injuries .Police seized both of the bikes and registered a specific case in this regard, said police.

It is to be mentioned here; the Traffic Police and Tripura Police Departments have been facing a very tough time to prevent the number of road accidents in the state which are allegedly claiming life of several people for last few months. The numbers of road mishaps are alarmingly increased in the state for last few months but the traffic police department is surprisingly playing silent role instead of taking proper initiative over the road accident issue.

According to a statistic of Transport Department, on an average Tripura records three road accidents and a death each day. In a survey, the concerned departments have found not wearing ISI marked full helmet, rush and negligence driving and overloading are mainly causing maximum number of road accidents, an official said today. Despite several requests from the concerned department, a vast number of bike riders avoid to wear ISI marked full helmet and use to ride the bikes with two pillion riders, he said. In maximum number of cases, casualness of two-wheeler riders was found to be cause behind the road mishaps in the state, he added.

Though, the number of vehicles increased in Tripura, but the road status in terms of widening and bigger lining is remained same as it was earlier. Moreover, rush and reckless driving, overloading by the passenger carrying vehicles, insufficient knowledge of traffic rules and regulations are often cause road mishaps in the different
