Tripura records the lowest temperature of season, Mercury slips to 6.4 degree Celsius

AGARTALA, Jan 26 (TIWN): After rising to around 11 degree Celsius, the minimum temperature once again dipped to 6.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Tripura on Tuesday recorded the lowest temperature of the season when mercury slipped to 6.4 degree Celsius.

The minimum temperature had risen a little over the past few days, but has once again dipped. Tripura continues to experience cold wave conditions.

The meteorological department has forecast severe cold conditions in the state over the next two days. Tripura recorded the lowest temperature of this season when mercury slips to 6.4 degree Celsius.

Cold wave tightened its grip in Tripura as mercury dipped further to 6.4 degree Celsius. 
In Agartala, wintry conditions continued to prevail with minimum temperature settling at 6.4 degree Celsius. 
The maximum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius.

Dense foggy conditions were witnessed in certain parts of the city which reduced the visibility to 200 meters in the morning. The visibility, however, improved with the progress of the day.
Apart from fog, low temperature too has started to mark its impact in Tripura. According to the weather report of Agartala Airport Meteorological department this is the lowest temperature of this season.

On the other hand there was no major change in the day temperature that hovered around 22 degree Celsius marks.

Tripura had recorded its lowest temperature in winter at 2° C in 1972.

Mostly during the winter season, life observed crippled across the state because of the chill and attendance seem to get poor in most schools and government offices. The streets wore a deserted look and business establishments were closed.

Generally, in Tripura winter starts from November. This year it has started from the month of December.

Weathermen however said the chill in the wind is felt is due to the wind from the northern direction. The forecast predict that in the next 24 hours the minimum temperatures would hover around 11 degree Celsius.

Cold conditions prevailed at several places in Tripura, where heavy blanket of fog is likely to affect the daily life in tripura in the coming days, said weather man.
