AGARTALA, Jan 24 (TIWN): With initiatives of the Azad Hindh Club, an annual health camp has been organized on Sunday at the club premises.

The programme was inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in the presence of Agartala Municipal Council Mayor Dr, Prafullajit Sinha and others.

At the programme, blood donation camp was also organized where huge number of people has donated their blood voluntarily.

Addressing the programme on Sunday the dignitaries present over there mentioned that the initiative of voluntary blood donation has become a festival in Tripura. These initiatives results helpful form the needy people of the State.

Besides, the dignitaries also urged that every clubs and other social organizations to generously conduct blood donation camps to save lives.

Appreciating the initiative taken by the association, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that there is no alternative of blood. He appealed to donate blood as much as possible as there is no substitute for human blood.

It is to be mentioned that blood donation is a voluntary procedure. Findings have shown that donating blood reduces the risk of heart attacks and even cancer. It even burns 650 calories for every pint given.

However, during the event various cultural programmes were also organized. People from various parts of the area have participated in the event.
