Attack on Sabroom Court Justice: Investigation to complete soon, says South SP

AGARTALA, Jan 21 (TIWN): Much awaited case of the ghastly incident of attacking Magistrate Saurabh Saha by CPI-M picketers during the 24-hour All India Strike on September 2, to be tabled before the court very shortly.

Talking to the TIWN correspondent on Wednesday, South Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty stated that investigation in going on this case.

Enhancing about the case, South Superintendent of Police mentioned that the investigation is on the verge of completion. Besides, he also mentioned that after the completion of the investigation, the case will be placed before the court very shortly.

It is to be mentioned here that altogether four accused were arrested earlier involved in this case. However, later the court has granted bail of the accused

As the Public Prosecutor did not oppose the bail petition of the accused, the HC going abide with the available facts has granted a bail of all the four accused.

Tripura High Court on October 28 granted the anticipatory bail petition of three CPM leaders, including a party state committee member.

The names of the mentioned accused are Bijay Dey, Biswajit Dey, Abhijit Dey and Abhik Basak.

According to reports, a group of picketers belonging to the ruling Left parties' trade unions attacked the Sabroom and Belonia SDJM courts on September 2 and tried to assault the magistrates to enforce the nationwide bandh in support of their demands.

However, it is to be mentioned here that on September 2 on the day when 24-hour All India Strike, during the strike Magistrate Saurabh Saha along with two other employees and a bank clerk was on the way to the court when the CPI-M picketers blocked him entering court. Finally with Police escorted Judge Saurabh Saha entered Court.

After they entered in to the court, come of the picketers entered in to the court room and ransacked the doors and windows along with the benches. Besides, they also assault the magistrates.

It is to be mentioned here that Justice Pal had lodged an FIR against Belonia CPI-M Sub Divisional Committee Secretary Tapas Datta, Member of South Tripura Zilla Parisad Babul Debnath and top CPM leader Trilokeshwar Sinha, giving a detailed account of how the trio had abused and attacked him for attending the court during the strike.
