Minister Tapan Chakraborty inaugurates regional workshop on mid-day meal scheme

AGARTALA, Jan 15 (TIWN) : A two day long regional workshop on mid-day meal scheme was inaugurated by Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty on Friday at State guest house in the presence of many other dignitaries.

Representatives from all the seven states of the north east region participated in the regional workshop and put light on the status of the mid-day meal scheme of the particular state.

Addressing the workshop, education minister Tapan Chakraborty said that comparing to the other state, the ratio of the mid day meal in the state has increased drastically.

Apart from the highest ratio, the infrastructure required for the mid day meal in the state is affordable and is up to the marks and there is no fault in the entire set up.

Stressing on the status of the ingredients for the mind day meals in the schools, Minister Tapan Chakraborty further said that the ingredients reaches to the state on time and all the schools are provided with the basic ingredients in time.

The cooks engaged for cooking the meal under the mid day meal scheme are being appointed after proper consultation.  

However, all the representatives from the seven north east states spoke on the issue of the mid day mead scheme in the other states of the north east.

The Midday Meal Scheme is a school meal programme of the government of India designed to improve the nutritional status of school-age children nationwide. The programme supplies free lunches on working days for children in primary and upper primary classes in government, government aided, local body, Education Guarantee Scheme, and alternate innovative education centres, Madarsa and Maqtabs supported under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, and National Child Labour Project schools run by the ministry of labour. Serving schools and Education Guarantee Scheme centres, it is the largest such programme in the world
