AGARTALA, Jan 3 (TIWN): With the aim to complete the BG conversion work in the given deadline, the workers are engaged in the last hour of the conversion work at Agartala Railway station. Tripura would create a history on January 13, when the BG engine will touch the soil of the Agartala Railway station for the first time. Chief Engineer (Construction), NFR Harpal Singh in a meeting said that the NFR is all set to run the BG engine in the newly converted BG track up to Agartala Railway station. The conversion work is underway in full swing and there are no hurdles in the way to obstruct the run of the BG engine in the track on January 13. The NFR has decided to run the BG engine of the Badarpur-Agartala track in two phases because there were some problems in the tracks. However, the work has gained momentum and the track laying work is almost completed the trial run of the engine will be done on January 13. However the rolling of the engine will be completed once it touches the soil of Agartala. Keeping in mind the roll of the engine upto Agartala by the mid of January the workers are engaged in completing the work of laying tracks and the other essential works at the Agartala railway station. After the successful run of the engine upto Agartala, NFR is scheduled to run the ballast train. The NFR is also likely to conduct CRS inspection on the newly converted BG rail track for safety clearance followed by the final run of the BG passenger train in February.

If everything falls in the right place, it will be possible to run the passenger train on the given deadline.

After the successful BG trial run of a diesel engine from upto Dharmanagr the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working hard to bring Agartala under the country’s Broad Gauge Network by March 2016. After the introduction of the BG facility one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State Tripura in eight hours.

The successful run of the trains on the broad-gauge track will bring sync with those in the rest of the country and Tripura is gearing up for faster connectivity and communication with several parts of the nation.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation.
