Tripura police week begins at Monoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium

AGARTALA, Jan 3 (TIWN): Like every other year the five day long police week began of Sunday at Monoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium.

Police week is celebrated in Tripura from January 3 to 6. To celebrate the success of State police, several programs are organized at Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium, A.D. nagar.

To mark the occasion, parade was also organised by the Director General of Police K.Nagraj and all other of Tripura police.  The program was grace by the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar while addressing at the Tripura Police Week-2016 celebration after police day parade at AD Nagar police ground  said that police should focus on building up better coordination with the people. Moreover, fencing along the border is incomplete in some patches. In order to arrest the rising graph of road accidents, Traffic unit needs to devise and develop a trafficking system in the state.

Police should be more focused about their social responsibility. Crime against women had taken a worst turn; Police should take initiative to tackle the menace cautiously, added Sarkar.

However, a cultural event is organized where welcome speech was delivered by DGP K.Nagraj. Chief Minister will also preside over the event where he also inspected the parade contingent.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also handed over trophy and certificate to the nominated personnel’s for their achievements in the field at Manoranjan Debbarma stadium at AD Nagar police line Sunday.

It is to be mentioned here that, Tripura police has announced the name of the ‘best policemen of the year -2015’ and Sub Inspector Rajkumar Jamatia and the Officer in Charge of Anandabazar police station has been named as the best policeman of the year.

On the other hand Women Sub Inspector Mina Debbarma of RK Pur police station has been nominated for ‘Best Investigator of the Year-2015’ while Kalamchowra police has been nominated as the Best police station for the year-2015.

Second battalion TSR has been selected for best TSR battlion of the year-2015 while Unakoti district has been nominated as best district in Prayaas for the year 2015. Killa police station has been nominated as best police station for Prayaas for the year 2015.

However, in the week long program the first day is marked with police week parade and inauguration of inter unit sports meet. The rest of the day of the week  includes a  friendly hockey match, arts and handicrafts exhibition, 10 KM run, quiz events, seminar on police public co-operation, closing ceremony of inter unit sports meet and debate completion.

It is to be mentioned here that the Police Act of 1861 requires the police to remain committed to the political executive. The National Police Commission suggested that the police should be more concerned with protecting the interests of the people and it should remain loyal to society.

To celebrate the success of State police, several functions are organized at Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium, A.D. Nagar.
