AGARTALA, Jan 3 (TIWN): Demanding to take legal action against the alleged excessive charge of the set top box in the State, members of NSUI and Youth Congress on Saturday staged protest in front of the office of DM (West).
Allegation has been raised that huge black marketing is going on in the name of selling of set top box.
Talking to TIWN correspondent, Youth Congress leader Vicky Prasad on Saturday said that in the name of providing HD quality service the cable service provider is charging Rs. 1700 to Rs. 2000. Besides, he also mentioned that if we order a set top box through online than it will cost around Rs. 699.
Further, he mentioned that an investigation team was also formed for keeping in check the rates of the set top box but yet today no reports has been disclosed.
Besides, question arises despite of creating an investigation committee the cable service operators are charging allegedly more excessive charge of the set top box in the State.
It is also said that the consumers are told that they have to subscribe the set top box only from the cable operator.
It is to be mentioned here that the cable was already been disconnected after the December 31 night. But with the order of the extension of time from the higher authority most of the families who has not installed the set top box yet got relief.
The higher authority has directed all multi-system operators (MSOs) and representatives of the district cable television operators’ association to ensure that the seeding of set top boxes is completed in the limits of the municipalities before the deadline.
However, the members of NSUI and Youth Congress will meet the DM (West) on Monday to solve the issue and to clarify a way out of it.
