UDAIPUR, Jan 2 (TIWN): The only lift at the Gomoti District Hospital left out of order since many days causing troubles for the patients. Over thousand patients come to the Hospital daily so the out- of- order lift created a big problem for them.

As it is winter season, the number of cases of viral fever has gone up. So, the failure of the only lift in the hospital caused problems for the patients as well as for the doctors.

Elderly people, down with orthopaedic problems, had to use staircase. The hospital staff and the patient’s family had to carry the patients in stretchers, through staircase.

Things are not in order in the hospital. According to some locals the hospital administration should solve problems immediately so that the patients cannot create chaos on the hospital campus.

The elevator of Gomoti district hospital has not been functioning in due to some technical fault for the past many days which has increased the miseries of patients who require emergency medical care. The shifting of patients from emergency to other departments had become difficult for attendants and volunteers as they had to climb staircases carrying wheelchairs and stretchers of their patients.

The shifting of patients from one floor to another through staircase is very difficult for attendants and volunteers and also dangerous for patients as they may fall if their attendants lose footing.

The patients and their attendants appealed to the hospital administration for early repair of elevator as shifting of patients through staircases carrying stretchers is not easy.

Apart from the elevator, the district hospital also hit with several other problems like lack of drinking water facility, non availability of first aid medicines, and others.

Further, the patients said that as the rooms of the hospital are very small in size they had to face the pathetic situation. The hospital which has started 1 year ago, till day it does not have proper equipment for treatment, acute water shortage let the hospital to stink and above all the patient had to face 4 to 5 hours of prolonged load shedding which leads to pitiable condition in the hospital.

In the Golden Era of the state, patients are still facing the acute shortage of bed in the Gomati District Hospital. The hospital which has a limit of 32 numbers of beds, crammed with 75 to 80 numbers of patients.

As per the report, the hospital which was started with an aim to provide service to the people just 1 year ago, but within one year of gap it allegedly fails to provide the proper service to the people. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar laid the foundation stone for the development for health sector in the Gomati District in the year 2012. Therefore, the hospital which has started its service in the year 2014, in 1 year of duration started to crumple down slowly.
