AGARTALA, Dec 26 (TIWN): When the authorities claim that the crime against women has decreased and Tripura a peaceful state, on yet another bizarre incident, a 17-year old girl raped by her neighbour on Thursday late night at Kolkolia Nandi Para under Bishalgarh sub-division.
It has been alleged that despite of number of Police station has increased in the State; the authority fails to curb the rising crime against women.
Every time the newspaper and the television blinks with a headline that a girl has been raped or molested. Besides, domestic violence against the women is also not taking name to slight decrease.
Detailing about the incident, Bishalgarh police said that victim came out of her house for some work when the accused pressed her mouth and forcefully dragged her in to the nearby Jungle.
According to the police report, the accused has been identified as Sukhen Das, who professionally a daily wages labourer.
Hearing the scream of the girl her father rushed to the spot and managed to grab the 27-year old accused. Later, on Friday the victim’s father filed a complaint against the accused.
Police on Friday rushed to the spot and investigated the area and arrested the accused.
Despite of several tall claims by the authority that the crime against women has decreased here in Tripura, day by day the crime against women are increasing.
Overall scenario of crime against women in Tripura is increasing at an alarming rate.
However, the incidents prevails tension among the residence of the area. The locals demanded strict action against the accused.
On one hand where the State Government claims that the crime against women is decreasing day by day, on the other hand every after now and then many untoward incidents against women are coming up. These highlights that how much the women in the State are secure in the broad day light itself.
However, organizing seminars, workshops and awareness camp and recruiting more women police on curbing the rising crimes against women must not be enough here in the state at present, strict and serious initiatives must be taken to curb the rising crime, claimed the locals.
