AGARTALA, Dec 24 (TIWN): Demanding to arrest the accused Sutirtha Banik, resident of Akahura road in allegation of attempt of molesting a minor in his own house, the Tripura Pradesh women’s congress (TPWC) of Thursday placed a deputation to west women’s police station.
The Tripura Pradesh women’s congress wing went to west women police station on Thursday and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
It is to be mentioned here that on last December 20, Ankur Saha resident of Haradhan Sangha who is also the father of the victim minor lodged complaint against Sutirtha Banik in allegation of molesting his daughter. The accused Sutirtha Banik is also the maternal uncle of the victim minor girl.
However, the parents of the victim, identified as Ankur Saha and Sriparna Banik (Saha) are separated and the custody of the daughter is with the mother. Later with the order from the high court the daughter is allowed to meet her father on every Sunday and rest of the time as per the court order she stays with her mother at her maternal uncle’s house.
Accordingly on last Sunday, on December 20, when the girl came to meet her father she alleged that her uncle identified as Sutirtha Banik tried to molest her. She also said that when she informed this to her mother she was forced to remain silent.
Getting agitated over the wrong deed of Sutirtha Banik, the father has lodged a complaint against him in the west women police station but so far no action is taken against him.
However, demanding the arrest of the accused along with to conduct medical test of the victim and to provide protection for the girl, the Tripura Pradesh women’s congress of Thursday placed a deputation to west women’s police station.
Police further said that the accused is absconding; and police will take immediate action to arrest the accused.
