AGARTALA, Dec 12 (TIWN): The left front on Saturday made a clean sweep in the municipal poll results amid allegations of widespread rigging and terror. Winning nearly 45 of the 49 civic bodies AMC ward in the state where polls were held on December 9, Left front made a clean swept against the rival Congress in these elections.The civil society and people at large have reposed their faith on left front in the civic polls. People have democratically rejected the politics of disruption, violence and bandhs. They have voted for development. People have witnessed widespread development in the last years and has accordingly casted their votes in the election.Among the 49 seats in AMC, LF won in all together 45 wards among the 49 wards of AMC in Tripura making a grand history.Where the Left Front wins in 45 wards; INC has won in four wards of Agartala Municipal Election.Reportedly, INC Candidates Milan Das from ward number- 3, Ratna Datta from ward number- 20, Himani Debbarma from ward number – 22 and Sampa Darkar (Choudhury) from ward number- 39 has won with majority votes. And BJP is failure to make any margin in the civic poll. Majority votes were declared by afternoon and the left supporters are observed rejoicing the win in the 45 wards.

Among the prominent candidates incumbent AMC Mayor Dr Prafullajit Sinha of CPI (M) defeated his nearest rival Congress candidate Ajoy Indu Singh.However, reports from sub divisional areas of Tripura, among 13 municipal councils, Left Front captured all 13 councils and also win all six Nagar Panchayats.

The local body elections have been pegged as the 'semi-finals' ahead of the Assembly elections in 2018. The final figures for the election shows that LF has made a clean sweep in the municipal election with Left Front candidates leading in maximum seats under Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and captured all 13 Municipal Councils and 6 Nagar Panchayats across Tripura. .

Elections to 19 of the 20 urban local bodies in Tripura passed peacefully on Wednesday.

The fate of 886 contesting candidates is already decided on Saturday as the counting is completed for the municipal election.

There are about 5.24 lakh voters who had decided the fate of 886 candidates across 657 polling booths. There was no report of any violence during the counting period.

The ruling CPM has a municipality in Jirania and a few seats in Khowai and Amarpur uncontested. It has also won 10 panchayat seats in by-election uncontested.
