The passenger train from Silchar covers a distance of 210 km in eight hours to reach Guwahati through Lumding, reducing the travelling time by four hours. The first broad gauge passenger train from Silchar to Guwahati has been flagged - off trains on November 21.However, the committee has been demanding to change the timing of the trains for the benefits of the passengers. It has been mentioned that the current timing of the trains are hectic for the passengers. Citizens of this town, who regularly travel on this train, also recently complained about the lack of a pantry car on the train. On the other hand, the committee claims that the delay in the trains and other problems are created by the traders of Assam.

They said that as the railway service in the area is hampering the trade of vehicles, the traders are creating problem regularly.Convenor of the committee Ajay Roy claims that due to the problems created by the vehicle traders after construction of railway tracks, people of the area had to wait for 8 months for the railway service.Broad gauge connectivity to Silchar is expected to benefit the people of Barak Valley and also to the other North-eastern states like Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur.

With the aim to give a new look to the Agartala railway station along with BG conversion wok at Tripura, facelift work of Agartala railway station is undergoing in full swing at Badarghat railway station.

Numbers of workers are engaged in the renovation work of the Agartala railway station.

Besides, along with Silchar-Guwahati railway problem showed up,

Several hurdles might hit the BG conversion work up till Udaipur. There is no doubt the BG conversion work is progressing in full swing but the several hurdles may obstruct the BG conversion work at Udaipur.

The railway authority has taken the required initiatives but the negligence of the state government might lead to the obstruction in the BG conversion work.

It is to be mentioned here that so far the state government is yet failure in the land acquisition work at Udaipur since past one year. However, such hurdles might create problem in connecting Agartala with Udaipur through BG lines.

The conversion work is underway in full swing, but several hurdles might disturb the conversion work.  However, conversion work between karimganj to Udaipur is underway as conversion between Badarpur and karimganj is completed.  Accordingly the BG conversion work is scheduled to get completed by March 2016 but several hurdles might create problem in the conversion work.
