Women smugglers rampant in the Kathalia border area

AGARTALA, Dec 4 (TIWN): Just when few days left for the upcoming Municipal Election, women smugglers of Bangladesh goes rampant in the Kathalia border area, sources said.

Despite of tight security of the Border Security Force and the police personnel, women hailed from Bangladesh creates terror among the people of the area.

Reportedly, the women smugglers hailed from Bangladesh dominate the people of Kathalia in such a way that Kathalia is their native place.

Allegation has been raised against the police personnel and the BSF that they are allowing the women to enter the border in exchange of bribe.

The locals complained that every day the women smugglers come up in the market and creates chaos. Despite of several issues, the police personnel are not taking any action against it, said the locals.

Where the cattle-smuggling, smuggling of fake Indian currency notes was also a serious problem in the border areas, smuggling of commodities by the women smugglers has gone rampant.

Despite the wire fencing across the border area Tripura has become the hub for transporting the prohibited goods. Illegal intrusion of the extremist and miscreants, smuggling of contraband items and cattle’s across Tripura to Bangladesh and vice-versa has become an everyday-issue.

Besides, most of the time it has been seen that the miscreants has been transporting the goods through the Churraibari area.

As it has not become possible to provide fencing in all side of the border, kidnapping and thefts, smuggling of cattle, human trafficking, fake currency are quite rampant along the border as there is lack of proper security arrangements in some parts of the bordering areas.

Smuggling of Phensedyl a cough syrup, with an exceedingly high dose of codeine and other contraband items are increasing day by day in the state.

However, the locals are complaining for prolonged many days but the authorities are playing role of a silent spectators.
