AGARTALA, Dec 3 (TIWN): On the one hand where 18batallion are engaged in the security of the 856km long BSF border, it is seen that there is a constant rise in the smuggling of contraband goods through the leaky and porous border.

Every now and then there is information of smuggling of contraband goods keeping the BSF and BGB in darkness.

Due to the expansion of wire fences work in most of the parts of the border area of Bisalrgarh and sonamura Boxonagar Khowai and other places the smuggling racket of contraband goods has raise high.

Although number of insurgent hideouts has been reduced in Bangladesh but the smuggling of contraband goods is yet on a rise.

Smuggling of Phensedyl a cough syrup, with an exceedingly high dose of codeine and other contraband items are increasing day by day in the state. A section of people alleged that due to the under table connection between the BGB and BSF the business in rising high.

Due to the deep hand in the smuggling business every day contraband items worth lakhs and lakhs of rupees are being intruded to Bangladesh as it brings huge income.

Illegal intrusion of the extremist, smuggling of contraband items and cattle’s across Tripura to Bangladesh and vice-versa has become an everyday-issue. Despite the wire fencing across the border smuggling is on a crest for transporting the prohibited goods.

BSF authorities claim to be in constant touch with the BGB to remove obstacles in completing fencing. It is hopeful that the 856 km Indo-Bangla border will be fenced very shortly
