AGARTALA, Oct 22 (TIWN): With the aim to connect the landlocked Tripura by March 2016, BG conversion work is going on in full swing at Agartala railway station even during the festival time of Durga puja.

The workers are leaving no stones unturned to complete the conversion work in the given deadline.

All together 17 tracks will be laid at the Agartala railway station as Agartala railway station would be the main station to cater rail service from different part of the country.

The main track which had once run the Meter gauge train is now erupted and BG tracks are laid and within January 2016 track laying work for 17 tracks at Agartala railway is supposed to complete.

Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s railway network.

The pace of the conversion work shows that Agartala will soon be connected with the BG track to bring in sync with the rest of the country.

It is to be mentioned here that Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu is likely to visit the state to lay the foundation stone for BG Conversion work and to discuss about the work process and progress.

However, NFR CEO S.I. Garud has inaugurated the BG railway track and offered prayers by hitting coconut as a sign of good will and safe journey.

The successful trial run of the motor trolley run was conducted on the newly converted BG track between Agartala to Kumarghat to check the stability of the track and to begin the journey of the goods trains in the track.

With the introduction of the BG facility, one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State –Tripura in a journey spanning around eight hours and if things fall in place, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed shortly.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation by March 2016.
