AGARTALA, Oct 21 (TIWN): Election for Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC),Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat is schedule to held in first week of December next. The ruling CPI(M) party is willing to complete the election ahead of party plenary which is schedule to held at Kolkata. If elections are conducted after party plenary then there arises the problem of ending of terms of all urban bodies. Under this circumstance, it was decided to complete the election within December 15.

On Monday last the last council meeting of AMC was held. Party sources said all preparations are made to complete the election process by mid – December. The party is  cent percent confident of winning the election, but they are taking the upcoming election very seriously. By not holding the election within the schedule time may convene a wrong message to party cadres. In the party plenary at Kolkata, all senior leaders of the state will attend it. The three day plenary will end on December 31.

That means the leaders have to leave the state by December 25. Earlier it was proposed to hold election on January 2016. But the terms of all urban bodies ends in December, it is important the election process is completed by end of term. The state CPI(M) leaders hence decided to complete the entire  election process with in mid – December. The administration is gearing up in this regard, after Durge Puja the schedule for the election will be declared. The state committee of CPI(M) will also hold meeting   after Durga Puja.
