AGARTALA, Oct 21 (TIWN): Recently launched 20 city AC buses which ply on 6 different routes of Agartala city is witnessed running without AC facility in the bus on the streets of Agartala over past many days. It is to be mentioned here that Transport Minister Manik Dey inaugurated the 20 AC bus to run on the 6 different routes at Agartala, but it is witnessed that there is no AC facility in the bus and is like the same old existing bus. In an historic moment for the land-locked Tripura, Transport Minister Manik Dey inaugurated the maiden Volvo bus service for Agartala-Kolkata via Dhaka and also flagged off the 20 City AC bus at TRTC complex in presence of AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha, Transport Secretary Samarjit Bhowmik, Chief Secretary Yashpal Singh, but it seems that the ministerial bench have done a fake promise in the name of AC bus and has let the Non AC bus to ply on the streets of Agartala. It is worthy to be mentioned here that as most city buses are in a poor condition in the city and have been damaged in their corners there was need of city bus. Another reason behind the need was the the bad shape of the city buses is their lack of maintenance. The condition of these buses has wanted attention for quite some time, but the authorities have not shown any interest in maintaining them.

It is not comfortable to run the low floor huge buses in the city as it is difficult to drive them while taking a turn at narrow bends in the city.

Though the city buses are launched in the name of AC bus but there is no instalment of AC system in the bus and the people are travelling in the non AC bus.

However, on the same day when the 20 City bus were launched, on the same day Agartala-kolkata via Dhaka Volvo bus service was also launched by Transport Minister Manik Dey.

Keeping in mind the rising air fares, this international standard Volvo bus is catered with an aim for comfort of Tripura passengers.

It is to be mentioned here that the Cost of one ticket will be Rs 1800 including Bangladesh travelling tax.

The Volvo bus is catered in the state to provide luxurious service to the people of the state.

Despite all odds and with an aim to meet the demand of the land-locked Tripura and to contain the rise in airfares the bus service for Agartala-Kolkata via Dhaka has finally kicked off its journey from Agartala.
