AGARTALA, Oct 20 (TIWN): As in matter of few days, passenger train likely to start between Silchar – Lumding there is also a ray of hope for Tripura that, land locked tripura will be soon connected with rail map of the country.

With the progress in the BG conversion work it seems that the people of Tripura will soon enjoy the facility of the BG trains in the state. However, few hurdles at different spots of the BG track laying work may delay the work progress.

It is to be mentioned here that the local people of Teliamura have stalled the BG conversion work at Teliamura in demand of road over bridge since October 1. Due to the strong confrontation from the side of the villagers BG conversion work could not be taken up at around 800 meter area of Teliamura. If the impasse continues the work will be suffered.

Endeavours are set up for the wide gauge rail tracks in the middle of Agartala and Badarpur in Barak Valley as the Union ministry of environment and forests have delayed in giving environment clearance to lay tracks.

The stretch being referred to is a piece of Trishna natural life haven in South Tripura’s Belonia subdivision, which will defer work till Sabroom.

NFR sources confirmed that unless the environment clearance is given before the end of October, and the venture would not have the capacity to meet its due date of March 31, 2016.

Meter-gauge network in the middle of Agartala and Udaipur, as of now, exists yet new tracks of around 46km must be laid through woods ranges, including Trishna natural life asylum, to reach Sabroom, Tripura’s southernmost sub-division flanking the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh.

NFR is likewise confronting an issue in changing over existing meter-gauge tracks into expansive gauge tracks over a stretch of around 800m in Teliamura subdivision on the grounds that local people are requesting an over bridge for walkers.
