AGARTALA, Oct 13 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar seems misleading the people by giving false information. On Friday last while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Kamalpur Town Hall the information given by Sarkar and International Monetary Fund (IMF) do not match. The chief minister claimed that the state government have implemented the Food Security Act (FSA) more effectively then the guidelines issued by centre. The state is giving rice at Rs 2 per kilo to BPL ( below poverty line) families. However the price of per kilo rice of APL ( above poverty line ) was increased to give subsidy to BPL families. According to information given by Sarkar around 25 lakh people are covered under FSA – means they re belongs to BPL category. Whereas according to IMF report in the state poverty is decreasing by 4 percent ever year.
Organisation like IMF or World Bank did not conduct survey for one or two financial years, the survey might be conducted for minimum five years. That means every year 1 lakh 46 thousand people are elevated from BPL to APL category and in five years 5 lakh 30 thousand people. If IMF report is true than how can 25 lakh people still remain in BPL category.
Whom to believe Manik Sarkar or IMF? United States controls the IMF, for Sarkar it’s capitalist organization. If IMF would have given any such report of other states, than here CPI(M) leaders would smell conspiracy of United States. But IMF have given report in favor of Sarkar’s left front government so no hue and cry .
