AGARTALA, Oct 13 (TIWN): CPI-M on Monday observed the day as Martyr’s day (Shahidan Dibas) all over the state as its party programme. Reason behind organizing the programme was to revive the faded memory of party supporters and workers who already are frustrated with the style of functioning of the state govt. The so called ‘Birchandra Manu Gana hatta’ (Birchandra Manu killings) was a handiwork of some elements who had gathered courage to commit the crime only when the Congress-TUJS came into power in 1988. There is no doubt that that particular killing was one of the heinous crimes committed in the soil of Tripura. But not the only incident! People of all section and of political affiliation condemned the act and justice was delivered. But did the CPI-M introspect after the killing? Why the party leaders were brutally killed? What was their performance as the people representative of the area? How they dealt with the common people? Was their role during the 10 years long Left rule acceptable? No answer yet and certainly people will never get any answer. The Marxists never admit their wrong doings. Nor they are so courteous for any open debate. They are rigid, they are passionate to play with the past only. Soon after the killing the then Coalition govt led by Chief Minister Sudhir Ranjan Majumder appointed Justice Ali commission which investigated the matter and submitted its report to the govt. culprits was arrested and action was taken. What report said about the killing-everybody knows. “Mass anger was the main reason’ Ali Commission was quoted as reporting. The Ali commission’s report was not at all acceptable to the CPI-M. Rather it was rejected outright. Question may be asked why the past is being revived time and again.

What is the aim of such programme?

Answer is simple-to accrue support of the voters. Municipal election is very near. No stone shall remain unturned to win the civic body poll to get power of all spheres of politics and administration.

The call of the party in all function on the occasion of ‘Sahidan Dibas’ was to sacrifice life in the memory of the party ‘Sahids’ (martyrs). Ananda Mohan Roaja, Bimal Singha, and many others have sacrificed, how many party leaders want, sahid family members have every right to ask. But who will answer. CPI-M need to retain in power and by all means.
