Durga Puja: Traffic arrangements to be tightened up in the capital

AGARTALA, October 12 (TIWN): Tripura Police where all set with massive security arrangements with 2000 police personals, for hassle-free Puja celebration this year altogether around 600 traffic personnel will be deployed.

Talking to TIWN Traffic SP Smriti Ranjan Das said that already there are 240 traffic personals who are keeping vigilance to ensure smooth convenience and more 350 personals will be deployed in the capital.

“There will be seven terminal points within the radius of the capital for all passenger vehicles”, added Traffic SP Smriti Ranjan Das.

Besides, it has been mentioned that like any other this year also the restriction time will also be enforced for the passenger vehicles moving towards the city. Detailing about the timing of the Puja restriction, SP Das has mentioned that this year the restriction time is decided in between 6 pm and 12 am.

Only light vehicles including two wheelers, auto-rickshaws and bi-cycles will be allowed to enter inside the town during the schedule.

He further mentioned that for smooth convenience of the daily traffic in the capital, the department has decided to keep the alternative route open so that the public can use the roads for better convenience.

Detailing about alternative route the he added that the route from Kabiraj Tilla to Granduce, from by-pass to hanging bridge and Jogendra Nagar to Mathchoumuhani.

With the aim to avoid traffic glitch during the puja days, fly-over construction to remain suspended for 7 days, confirms Traffic SP Smriti Ranjan Das.

With Durga Puja knocking at the door, traffic measures have geared up to look for forward for smooth conduct of festival in the state. Keeping in the view the rush gathers at the Battala junction during the puja days the decision is taken to stop the construction work during Puja.

No truck and cargo vehicles will be allowed to enter towards Agartala after 5 pm to provide the Puja revellers a hassle-free movement.

All the necessary arrangements will be adopted for the smooth conduct of this festival to avoid any last-minute glitch.

However, a public notice on restricting the movement of vehicles in the evening 6 to 12 in the night will be circulated soon. However, all the government vehicles, ambulance and other vehicles under emergency and vehicles with pass can move freely.
