AGARTALA, Oct 11 (TIWN): People of the state was overjoyed with the news of arrival of hi – tech Volvo bus. The bus was procured at cost of Rs 90 lakh to provide international service by Tripura Road Transport Corporation. The bus will start its journey from Agartala via Dhaka will reach Kolkata. By this one can reach Kolkata directly from Agartala in 11 hours time.

The fair for each passenger will be Rs 1500. The sky rocketing airfares have made life of people here a hell. In case of emergency only they opt to travel by air. Agartala did make a place in the railway map of the country. Even though  was metre gauge, it gave some relief to the people of the state. That also stopped for at least six months due broad gauge conversion. The work is carried on war footing. Demand for Rajdhani Express from Agartala is being raised, it’s hoped that in future it may turn into a reality. From October 14 the direct bus service from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka will start its journey. West Bengal already have started its bus service from Kolkata to Agartala via Dhaka. But due to absence of Volvo bus, Tripura could not start the bus service. Those who will take the  bus service must have an international passport and visa from Bangladesh government.

That means without passport nobody can take the benefit of bus service. Ordinary people thought by any kind of proof identifications  documents   they can board the bus for going to other parts of the country via Kolkata. Instead of that passport and visa will be required. This has caused serious resentment among large section of people. Majority of them do not have passport. The procedure of getting it is very much trouble some. Now the demand is raised for transit visa, if it is done then the problem of passport will come to end. If anybody goes through one county one has to pay road tax, this is taken from passenger. Then why the problem for transit visa is arising. Leaders of both countries should discuss about the issue for the sake of majority of people.
