AGARTALA, Oct 7 (TIWN): NE states Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram are suffering mostly from frequent disruption of Internet connectivity due to the technical faults at Internet Gateway in Kolkata. The Additional GM of BSNL, Edwinson Swer told TIWN, “There had been few technical problems due to which the telecom connectivity in Tripura and Mizoram has been suffered”.According to the sources the cables at Kolkata were cut because of road expansion. Reports say that at least 7 out of 10 circuits damaged as a result of which the the entire northeast internet is affected. However, BSNL is working to bring back the net services via Siliguri-Chennai route bypassing Kolkata. But still dept. failed to get the average speed for internet in this region.“The 3rd internet gateway at Agartala-Cox's Bazar is must be opened soon”, Swer said. Tripurainfoway.com held a conclave on 6th August'2015 in the presence of Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy,Hinduja Group Chief Technology Officer V Subramanyam , Bank of America VP Saumen Sarker & USA, UK, Taiwan, South Korea Trade delegations at Rabindra Bhavan, Agartala. It was discussed that Agartala could emerge as the hub of the IT industry in Northeast India if the State Government moves fast enough to create necessary infrastructures.

But Tripura’s IT illiterate Chief Minister or Left Front govt. never shown any interest in this key area, with Tripura's lameduck IT Minister Tapan Chakraborty was himself absent during the programme when officials from India,USA, UK, Taiwan,South Korea kind of top IT expert countries were present  to take up this tiny Tripura's progress in IT seriously.

He also said, “It is difficult to assured service in the region except the 3rd internet Gateway’s opening”.The connectivity error both in mobile network and internet has been reported to ministry of telecommunication also. BSNL authority declared that unless & until the 3rd internet gateway will be started the states will be suffered.

Not only the subscribers from the common level are the sufferers, but many official works in government offices are also interrupting because of the poor service of BSNL. Bank services are also affecting due to the interruption of broadband internet connection in the city and thus creating inconvenience to the customers. Poor internet connectivity of BSNL, led to disruption in banking services, online payment of utilities and other customer services in all four NE states Tripura, Assam, Mizoram and Meghalaya for the past one week.

The BSNL authorities also blamed the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd in Tripura, which serve the whole internet connectivity throughout state.
However, it’s to be mentioned here that Tripurainfoway.com had pushed the State govt. to be serious regarding 3rd internet gateway,  state’s internet connectivity and laying roadmap of IT Industry .

Govt. can solve the unemployment issue in the state, it was also discussed during the conclave.
