AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): Almost after 7 months of the murder of the Kalpana Das murder case of Ranir Bazaar, police finally submitted charge sheet in court. Charges were filed under section 302, 201, 120, (B), 498(A) and 34 of IPC.
Filing the charge sheet, police also demanded for custodial trial. On April 16 last, Kalpana Das body was found in her room at BrhidhiNagar under Ranir Bazaar police staion.
Police on the same day arrested husband Jitendra Das, two brothers Atindra Das, Satindra Das and a nephew. Police later also arrested three sisters – in – law of the deceased. It is to be mentioned here that all the accused are now under jail custody and Police have demanded for the custodial trial. However, all the accused have also appealed for bail from High Court.
Jitendra’s wife, Kalpana Das, 62, a retired employee of Tripura police department, was found dead at their home at Ranir Bazar in Tripura West District, on April 16 morning.
Several injuries were spotted on Kalpana Das’ body (the deceased) and a blade was discovered lying beside the body.
Neighbors alleged that they came to the house hearing the screams of Kalpana only to discover her lying in a pool of blood at her room.
Her brother registered a complaint against Jitendra Das for torturing her since day one of their marriage.
Her husband – Jitendra Das, former Tripura West Zilla Parishad sabhadhipati was a contestant in the Tripura Assembly elections in 2013.
Party sources said that Kalpana had earlier complained about her husband’s illicit relationship with his brother’s widow. The party had assured her to look into the matter.
