AGARTALA, Sep 28 (TIWN) : Did Tripura Public Service Commission ( TPSC) deprived the meritorious Phd students who won gold medals, selected for NET ( national eligibility test) and SET ( state eligibility test) from getting selected as assistant professors? Non – meritorious students were selected as assistant professors for subjects like - Philosophy, Education, Bengali, English, and Sanskrit. The public service commission have become spineless and puppet in the hand of CPI(M) leaders and ministers. On August, 2014 advertisement was given for appointment of 150 assistant professors for various subjects purely on merit basis and UGC guidelines. The merit list of the applicants was prepared on the basis of mark achieved in madhyamik, HS, graduates and post graduates. Besides additional marks for those who got gold medal, Phd and selected for NET and SET. No marks for interview. In Assam, assistant professors are appointed on merit basis. In Bengal only twenty marks for interview. This is done to maintain transparency in selection process. But TPSC all of a sudden three days before interview gave another advertisement on May 8, 2015 that all recruitments will done on basis of interview carrying 100 marks. The advertisement was not circulated anywhere, only in TPSC website. In state only 5 percent of people are accessible to internet, surprisingly it did not bear signature of any competent authority.

This mean candidate with Phd   gold medal,  NET, SET is less importance, only 10 -15 minutes interview  is important. It is really strange, students who are meritorious were not selected only cheers for  non-meritorious students.

Report says, those who got selected as assistant professors were booked under law for criminal activities.

As per UGC guidelines, NET and SET is compulsory for the post, only those who have done course work or Phd by following the UGC guideline 2009 will not require NET or SET. But maximum selected candidates have no NET, SET or Phd means they have  no course work.

TPSC gave them appointed violating the guidelines, transparency shattered. This was not at all expected from an independent body. The meritorious candidates were cheated, the commission no longer remains a transparent body. Earlier on several occasions  fingers were  raised against TPSC. They were allegedly indulged in all kinds of wrong doing in various selection process in various departments including TPS and TCS.

The High Court of Tripura  in an order on September 23  have stayed the recruitment  of assistant professors selected  by Tripura Public Service Commisison ( TPSC).  The court directed the state government to submit an affidavit on November 17 next about the recuritment.
