Pillaring for fly-over to gear up soon, says PWD Chief Engineer Sunil Bhowmik

AGARTALA, Sept 28 (TIWN): With the on-going progress in the soil test and load test for the first ever fly over in Tripura, pillaring at the different spots for the fly over to begin soon, said PWD Chief Engineer Sunil Bhowmik.

Talking to TIWN correspondent on Sunday, PWD Chief Engineer Sunil Bhowmik said that if rain doesn’t interrupts the work progress, pillaring work at several other spots will also kick-off soon.

Iron frame structure for pillars is already set up with the help of steel bars and cement concrete. With the ongoing days, it is expected that the pillaring work for the fly over will begin soon if they dry season persists, added Bhowmik.

He further said the soil sample collected from different spots is undergoing test in the laboratories and by the time the test will be completed, pillaring work will also begin soon.

Stressing on the progress of the load test he further said that as Battala junction is the major priority, load testing for the battala point is already done and for the rest of the spots will be done in the coming days.

Once fly over is constructed, vehicles from the Nagerjala bus stand will continue to ply on the same path which is expected to reduced the traffic congestion in the road.

The first ever 2-lane flyover in the capital city will lower the traffic jam and will make a smooth running of vehicles in the street.  

According to the section of city dwellers fly over bridge, would be blessing for the people living in Agartala city, as the people can never be on time in their office or school due to the tremendous traffic issue. Mainly the Battala station, which have junction of more than four roads passing and connecting to a single road have been causing the maximum traffic jam.

The main motive of creating the Fly-Over Bridge is to seek solution to hectic traffic jam at Battala. As day by day the population and the number of vehicles are increasing, the problems arise in traffic system too.

The flyover, which would start from Drop Gate (Fire Service office), would touch Fire Brigade Chowmuhani via Battala. A subway of the fly over will be created up to Melarmath. As per the layout of the project, the Banayan tree and the temple at Battala will be remained untouched by the fly over.
