AGARTALA, Sep 28 (TIWN): Tripura Tribal Autonomous District Council ( TTADC) change of guards have failed to stop the deploring condition health sectors in tribal areas. There are report of total breakdown of health providing agencies.

All centre’s are facing acute shortages of medical staffs, non availability medicines. A section of bureaucrats, medical officers and staffs of health department are reportedly involved with financial embezzlement of funds meant for development of health sectors of TTAADC.

TTAADC health department runs two hospitals – one at Khumuwlwng and other at Birchandra Manu. Setting up of another hospital was promises at  Shikaribari in Dhalai distirct by former CEM,  Ranjit Debbarama. For this Rs 14 lakh was spent for renovating a building, but now it is covered by   weeds.

The demand of  hospital at Shikaribari was of long demand by locals of vast area. The entire area was prone to all kind of water borne and vector diseases, many people died due to inadequate health faciltes. After the announcement of opening a hospital everybody breathed a sigh of relief.

After the election, Radhacharan Debbarma was made CEM replacing Ranjit Debbarma. Locals thought now the hospital will start functioning fullflegedly. Surprisingly, after change of guards the lone doctor was transferred to Birchandra Manu hospital.

In Khumwlwng hospital also all is not well, severe mismanagement is prevails there. The patients are deprived from their basic   facilities. No life saving drugs are available in the hospital. Any kind of medical tests is not possible due to lack of lab technicians. They have to depend on private lab for getting the test done. The central government sanctions funds  for better health service in hilly areas. But the reality is very little is done.

The new CEM Radhacharan Debbarma is aware about the breakdown of health sector, but surprisingly he is ignorant about the issue. Is inaction is raising serious questions in the minds of people.
