AGARTALA, Sep 26 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has plenty of time to attend Cultural programs to Quiz programs, Club camps and other useless events but no time to visit and see Tripura's lifeline NH-44's miserable condition. ‘Amidst strong condemnation of inaction of Assam Govt to repair NH44 on its part’ Tripura today opened the alternate National Highway 44 via Kukital-Kurti to end month long wait of Tripura bound goods vehicles to reach to their destination. The decision was taken by the Finance department on the advice of state PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury camping in Dharmanagar. Meanwhile CPI-M has called for Agitation programme against the Congress led Assam Govt on 27th September at Loarboa. The party Unit of CPI-M is organizing the programme, the CPI-M Noth-district Secretary Amitava Dutta informed the media.Soon after the Tripura govt’s decision to open the Kukital-Kurti alternate NH44 nearly 600 vehicles with fuels and essential commodities crossed the area after a month long halt. State Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha today informed the reporters that the alternate NH44 shall remain open for 1 month till the plying through NH 44 is become trouble free.

He said Assam administration has started repairing work in the Chankhira-Kathaltali and Churaibari-Loarboa stretches of NH 44. Sources close to CPI-M today blamed that anti-socials are collecting money from the Lorries loaded with assential commodities and demanded immediate strong action. DM north Tripura has talked to the DC Karimganj on the issue.
The NH44 issue is soon become a regional political issue for the Congress and CPI-M has the later has gearing up its unit and supporters of the area to raise voice against the Assam govt for its anti-people role.

CPI-M leader Amitava Dutta while briefing the media said huge number of supporters from north Tripura will go to Loarboa on 27th along with party workers of Karimganj to launch agitation programme against the Tarun Gogoi led govt and its role towards the people of lower Assam.
