Thousands of rape, murder continue in Tripura : CM Manik Sarkar’s ‘Crime-Free-Tripura’ ranks 4th in ‘crimes against women’ in Country (NCRB report,2015)

AGARTALA, Sept 25 (TIWN): Although 2 death penalties ushered minor relief for the victim’s family and the people of Tripura, but still thousands of cases are pending, seeking justice for rape, murder but lameduck Chairperson of Tripura Women Commission (TCW) Purnima Roy seems happy with the bogus data of declining crime rates in Tripura. In August this year, Chairperson of ‘Tripura Commission for Women’ Purnima Roy said, “Crime against women has declined by numbers in the state”, whether the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report says that Tripura ranked 4th especially in crime against women. National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report in the month of August says that Tripura ranked 4th in crime against women. According to the NCRB data, in year 2014, rape incidents recorded in the state were 239, dowry death recorded were 33, sexual harassment cases were 82, cruelty by in-laws were 702 cases.The report also states that the rate of crime against women in Tripura is 88, while the national average is 56.3. However, its to be mentioned that in every 2 days a woman/girl is raped/murdered in Tripura.

Moreover, hundreds of rapes are happening every month which are not even reported to Police.

1.Delhi:           (169.1 % rate)

2.Assam:        (123.4 % rate)

3.Rajasthan   (91 % rate)

4.Tripura:        (88 % rate)

On Wednesday, death Penalty against 2 rapist, murderers thrilled the whole state, where court sentenced a 2 persons to death finding them guilty in raping and murdering a minor tribal girl.

The verdict was given by Kamalpur Additional Sessions Judge Arindam Paul to Rashida Tripura, (25) and Jhani Tripura, (20), for raping and murdering Kumari Karmati Tripura(12) at Raishyabari on February 7, 2014. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.20,000 on each of the convicts. Dhalai district's Additional Superintendent of Police Kishore Debbarma investigated the case and submitted a chargesheet to the court. As per sources, the victim was taken to the jungle by both of the culprits and then they raped her brutally and killed.
