AGARTALA, September 21 (TIWN): Tripura Space Applications Centre on Monday organized a one-day long workshop on ‘Building a State GIS Vision- Geo-enabling Tripura’ at Pragna Bhawan on September.
Science, Technology and Environment Minister Bijita Nath unfurled the programme in the presence of Director and Special Secretary of Department of Science, Technology and Environment IFS D. Chakraborty, Secretary of Department of Science, Technology and Environment IFS S. Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest IFS S. Talukdar and others.
As the e-governance is the current paradigm, the future lies in embedding GIS in governance and service delivery. GIS forms an important component of the Digital India project and should be leveraged for decision support systems and development.
GIS has been in use in India for more than two decades and forms the core of several mission critical projects in the government and private sector.
