AGARTALA, September 16 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and others leaders of CPI(M) are frequently going to Assam. Only couple of days back, Sarkar went to Jorhat to attend SFY state level conference. He has returned back. Another leader, Sankar Prasad Datta, MP of Loksabha is now touring Barak valley. He along with secretary of CPI(M), North Tripura district went there to attend party convention at Karimganj. Few more leaders and ministers will go to the neighboring state.
Why suddenly love for Assam erupted for the leaders of CPI(M)? After analyzing it was found on 2016, the state is going for assembly election.
Earlier, there used to be 11 MLAs of the party in 126 seat assembly. Karimganj was once a stronghold of CPI(M). Nishit Das won twice from there.
Even minorities strongly supported the communist party. Even Narul Huda, nominated candidate of CPI(M) also won the Silchar parliamentary seat and present state party secretary Udhab Barman won from Kaliabar assembly constituency. CPI(M) golden days in Assam have gone many days back.
They have no representation in the Assam Assembly. On this context Sarkar, who is also the politburo member was entrusted to revive the golden days of CPI (M). They are on mission to open an account in the 2016 assembly election.
Few month back a meeting was held at Dharmanagar to discuss ways to strengthen the party in Assam.Senior CPI (M) leaders from Assam attended the meeting. State leaders assured them all kind of help to regain the lost glory. Besides, the national party tag of CPI(M) is in stake after ousted from Kerala and West Bengal. Sarkar and his comrades are tying best, but it will not be an easy task.
