AGARTALA, September 5 (TIWN): Evoking a serious question over the role of the communist party here in Tripura the two prime CPI-M picketers were arrested on Friday noon for assaulting the Sabroom Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) court judge and also for attacking several police personnel, including officer-in-charge of the Sabroom police station Sanjit Sen. They were produced before the court, said SP South Bhanupada Chakraborty.
Talking to TIWN on Friday evening Chakraborty said that the two identified as Bijoy Dey and Bishwajit Ghosh were arrested on Fridaynoon on charge of getting involved to the violence took place at Sabroom court. They were now produced before the court, he said.
However, the move by the police has come up just after the Tripura High Court Chief Justice Deepak Gupta has asked Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to take a legal action against those involved in the attack on a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Court here on September 2.
The two separate incidents took place on September 2 at Belonia and Sabroom court by the CPI-M cadres had triggered a threatening to the entire judicial system of the state. The Tripura Bar Association and the lawyers’ body had condemned the incident.
Several police personnel were attacked and left seriously injured while the CPI-M picketers discovered an attack on them in the court premises while picketing and had also assaulted the judges of the two separate courts.
