AGARTALA, September 3 (TIWN): In yet another major blow, digging deep to the incident of SBI ATM heist, A.D.Nagar police on Thursday revealed that a gang of 10 miscreants are involved in the entire ATM loot and lifting case from Beltatli SBI ATM kiosk under A.D.Nagar police station on August 18 midnight. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Thursday, A.D.Nagar police station O/C Inspector Soumen Das said that representatives of the state police lead by him went to Assam seeking to nab the absconding culprits and has discovered that a gang of 10 members are involved in this crime and police has arrested one more related to this case from Assam, identified as Rabindra Baishya.He further said that, Rabindra Biashya is a resident of Assam Doli bari area under Assam Haju police station. The arrested Baishya is the driver of the vehicle AS 25 AC6928 which was used in the robbery on the night of the incident. However, the arrestee is sent to four day police remand.In a joint collaboration with the Assam police, A.D.Nagar police had also collected huge evidence from Assam related to the robbery and has identified all the four other absconding culprits. Accordingly, police has conducted raid in the residents of all the identified miscreants but failed to arrest them but has successfully arrested only one accused related to the robbery, added OC Das.

During investigation they also found that huge number of cases are pending and are lodged against the same gang under Meghalaya as well as Assam police station.

The gang carries out such type of robbery in the entire NE region, claimed Das.

However, A.D.Nagar police has given the requisition to Assam police to conduct raid and investigation to arrest the absconding miscreants.  

It is to be mentioned here that so far 6 culprits are arrested and four are yet absconding and police is further investigating the case.

However, it is to be mentioned that A.D Nagar police has successfully detained the six hi-tech robbers who has looted and lifted an ATM of State Bank of India (SBI) on 18 August night from Beltoli area under A.D Nagar police station.

According to the police, the robbers came in van bearing number AS6928 and thronged into the ATM kiosk. The arrested accused are identified as Shahjahan Ali (23), Ajnor Ali (32),Ranjan Das (18) Amar Rudra Pal of A.D.nagar, Prabal Dey for carrying out the process of breaking the security lock of the ATM machine in his wielding shop at Aralaia on the night of the incident and one Rabindra Baishya from Assam.

The A.D. Nagar police on August 20 recovered the stolen ATM from the Howrah River under west Tripura in Ranir Bazar Ghoramara area.

However, the robbers executed their plan and thronged into ATM counter by taking advantage of the darkness. He further said that the robbery was a well thought out plan as the robbers came equipped with all the tools required to carry out the robbery.
