Teachers’ transfer policy hits quality education in Tripura government schools, creates dearth in teaching

AGARTALA, September 3 (TIWN): Newly owned by the state Left front government – Teachers’ transfer policy has hit the quality education in schools which had further created a dearth of quality teachers in government aided schools in and around the state despite the fact that as many as 6000 teachers posts remained vacant in state.

This had left a large number of students in dilemma who now finds no alternative to the road blockade and agitations everyday infront of schools crying for teachers leaving their classes. Each school is being run by hardly 2 to 4 teachers resulting the students score bad marks in examination.

The deprived students claimed, “our teachers are being transferred to other schools but in replace never the department provides any teachers as a result other subject teachers are bound to take our classes on different subjects.”

They also claimed that this has resulted the quality teaching pattern in classes down despite the fact that most of the teachers are now not intend to take the private tuition.  

At least 57 HS schools and 169 SB schools are required science teachers respectively. Of the total government schools in and around the state a total of 521 schools are facing an acute shortage of teachers letting the students deprived from the quality education in Tripura.

Around 285 Junior Basic JB Schools don’t have sanctioned teachers, 169 SB schools are facing shortage of teaching employees, 57 HS schools don’t have required teachers and 14 Higher Secondary schools lack in required teachers.

Of the total 6000 vacant posts, 1769 UGTs and 3816 GTs are required in different schools. As many as 1470 posts of PGTs remain vacant till the date. The official informed that 14 subject teacher posts- mostly science, English, political science remain vacant.
