AGARTALA, September 2 (TIWN): To ease the worry among the people of capital city Agartala the state Traffic Police department had taken all necessary initiatives to keep all the major roads along with the sub-ways open during this Durga Puja. “At least in this puja I do not see any sufferings for the people of Agartala as all the roads would be opened despite the construction work for flyover will go on,” said State Traffic Superintendent of Police (SP) Smriti Ranjan Das on Wednesday talking to TIWN. Being asked he said, “We are putting hard effort to restrict any kind of traffic congestion during this puja.” Adding to that Das said, “The construction agency had almost completed the soil testing works for flyover.” “We would also keep all the sub-ways and the main roads open despite the fact that the construction work for the flyover will go on,” adding Das said, “I assure the people of the state that there would be no sufferings for them at least in this puja and they can easily make an entrance into the main city.”

He also stressed upon saying that as usual the department would also deploy additional traffic forces comprising of TSRs and other traffic personals in and around the capital city Agartala during the puja.

“Though no proper decision has been taken yet in regard of getting the construction work halt for puja but the department has taken all necessary initiatives to restrict mainly the traffic congestion,” Das told TIWN.

Asked about the ongoing traffic congestion condition in Agartala Das clarified that some of the major roads were stopped as the soil testing works were under progress at the middle of the roads and also as the roads became narrow the vehicles could not pass easily.

But such conditions would now be cut as the agency had almost complete the soil testing work and now most likely they would go for other basic works laying the pillars, he said.

The flyover was a long term demand of the city dwellers and it needs to be introduced soon to contain heavy traffic congestion which is increasing along with the moving hands of the clock.

The main motive of creating the Fly-Over Bridge is to seek the solution for maintaining the Traffic system in the city. As day by day the population and the number of vehicles are increasing, the problems arise in traffic system too.
