UDAIPUR, Sept 1(TIWN): An integral part of the Udaipur-Amarpur road and an important bridge for the several vehicles plying along the bridge on a daily basis, the concrete bridge over Maharani Stream is in a deplorable and pitiful condition.

The concrete bridge which was constructed 2 years back has become an important bridge for the regular measure of transportation between Amarpur and Udaipur and vice-versa.

Even though the bridge was constructed two years it has turned into a death prone zone due to the use of low graded material in the construction. Around 100 vehicles passed upon the bridge on a daily basis.

In case the government fails to look into the condition of the bridge at the earliest there is high possibility that the bridge will collapse completely.

It is alleged that if the bridge collapses then there is no alternate road diversion along the route and as such connectivity could be completely cut off.

Considering all the conditions, Amarpur PWD executive Engineer Alok Banerjee is not willing to accept that low graded material is used in the construction and claimed that the department will look forward to repair the bridge at the earliest.

Transportation between Amarpur-Udaipur road would be severely harmed if the bridge is not repaired at the earliest.

The situation becomes more critical during the rainy season. Everyday large number of vehicles passes through this bridge and the bus drivers unloads the passengers at the one end of the bridge and again carries the same passengers at the other end of the bridge as it becomes risky to carry passengers over the wrenched bridge.

At every hour the villagers are spending their lives in fear, as at any moment they can lose their life while moving through this bus.

The localities alleged that they have reported the issue to the concerned authority but no action is taken.
