AGARTALA, September 1 (TIWN): Metrological forecast indicates that heavy rain will continue in isolated part of the state along with heavy blow of wind for the next 24hours.

Speaking to TIWN correspondents on Tuesday, official of metrological department said that there will be heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours.

Adding to his statement he said that till 8:30 am in the morning there was 12.00mm of rain and from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm in the afternoon there was 8.8mm of rain.

The sky in Agartala and its vicinity remains generally cloudy, rain may occur in some areas of isolated part of the state.

However, the rain brings certain relief from the summer on Tuesday.

On the other hand, this rain will solve few amount of water scarcity. It is to be mention that many interior tribal localities in Tripura are facing acute drinking water crisis. People rely on water hand pumps and local streams installed in few villages.

However, due to the flyover work, the roads have become narrow which has lead to traffic jams even on regular days. Besides, the roads from Bprdowali to Nagerjala are in a horrible shape.

The road is full of pot holes and water gets pored up in the holes creating problems for the commuters including the pedestrians. When it rains, traffic comes to a complete stand-still.

Normal life was also affected in state capital due to the incessant downpour.

The downpour has lead to the rise in water level in major rivers including Howrah River. Many areas on the banks of the river were submerged in water.
