AGARTALA, August 27 (TIWN): Teachers working under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and staged a protest at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan demanding regularisation of jobs.
Speaking on the occasion, Tripura Contract Teacher’s and Employees Associations General Secretary Rajkumar Choudhury said “we are seeking regularisation of jobs since long but the state government failed to recognise our demand.”
Teachers alleged that instead of recognising their services, officials are trying to suppress their voice.
During the protest it has been mentioned that the teachers working under the Central sponsored schemes are facing several issues.
The solution of all our issues is regularization of jobs. We are struggling for this from the past several years. If the state government fails to recognise our demand we will intensify our struggle.
Besides, with the commence of the protest, the classes under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) faced a serious setback as the teachers went on a mass leave to protest demanding regularisation of jobs.
The curriculum activities of most of the schools have been affected by the protest. The RMSA is part of the national educational scheme envisaged to impart standard secondary education to all.
Teachers also held a march from Radhanagar, Jail road and Nagerjala and assembled in front of the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan and raised slogans demanding to regularise their jobs.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), is an Indian Government programme aimed to provide elementary education "in a time bound manner", as mandated by the 86th amendment to the Constitution of India making free and compulsory education to children of ages 6–14 a fundamental right.
The programme was pioneered by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
However, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) is a central sponsored scheme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, for the development of secondary education in public schools throughout India.
It was launched in March 2009. It aims to provide universal education for all children between 15–16 years of age.
The funding from the central ministry is provided through state governments, which establish separate implementing agencies.
