AGARTALA, August 16 (TIWN): After waiting for a long while, at last the Tripura government seeks Centre’s intervention to resolve the ongoing crisis of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the state over past one month.Following the crisis of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas in the sate over past one month, Food, Civil Supplies and consumer affairs minister Bhanu Lal Saha in written a letter to Union Petroleum and Natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan asked to give a keen eye to the LPG cooking gas crisis cylinder.Cooking gas crisis has worsened across the state, forcing the domestic users to hit the streets protesting against the acute shortage of LPG cooking gas cylinders in front of the major gas agencies in the state. As a result, black marketing is on the rise, with consumers forced to buy cylinders at prices ranging between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 a piece.Long queues of people are seen outside gas agencies of the state. Common men are paying almost more than double to buy a gas cylinder. People have been left with no option but to buy the LPG cylinder from the open market by shelling out more money. These days hundreds of people are seen standing outside the gas agencies to seek a refill and to get their cylinders.Shortage of LPG has triggered spontaneous protests in many areas across the state.

Taking full advantage of the current situation, black-marketers are making money by selling a gas cylinder almost double its price in the market.

It is to be mentioned here that if the demand of the cooking gas cylinders is not fulfilled it may disturb the peace and tranquility of the state in the coming days.

Keeping the situation in mind, Food, Civil Supplies and consumer affairs minister Bhanu Lal Saha has requested the central petroleum and natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan to direct the authority of IOCL to send adequate number of cylinders in the state.

However, Principal Secretary S.K. Rakesh in a letter to the working director f IOCL has requested to increase the number of LPG cylinders for the state.

He also mentioned that state requires 30 trucks of LPG cylinders and in this situation the state is only less than 22 trucks of cylinders.

Acute crisis of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder is still continuing in Tripura, triggering huge backlog.

The LPG crisis is also an outcome of the dirty politics at framed by the labourers at the Bisalgarh bottling plant backed by CITU.

The total number gas agencies are being increased to 46 while the main gas bottling plant in Bishalghar is unable to cope with the ongoing cylinder demands.

Allegedly, scarcity of LPG cylinders continues to haunt consumers, particularly in central locations of the city, and there is no confirmed time when the problem of acute scarcity of water will come to an end.
