AGARTALA, August 13 (TIWN): Just ahead of Tripura preparing for Independence Day celebration, the Agartala Police on Wednesday recovered at least 2 foreign made live grenade bombs and one pistol from a mafia identified as a Goutam Chakroborty, resident of North Badharghat.The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at around 7:00 pm at Badharghat near the stadium complex after the accused mafia asking for money entered a living room of a widow and discovered a brutal attack on her and left her seriously injured, said police.According to the police, one Goutam Chakroborty known to be a broker and engaged in land deal business on Wednesday evening attacking the middle aged widow identified as Gopa Debnath of Bdharghat area, had threatened her showing foreign made pistol with at least 2 live grenade bombs on his pocket.Later, getting an alarm the locals rushed to the spot and managed to detain the accused mafia Goutam Chakroborty after disarming him and handed over with the police. The angry mobs also broke his 4 wheelers vehicle which accused Goutam Chakroborty carried with him.

“The accused was earlier engaged to land deal business as a broker and was also known as mafia. 2 live grenade bombs and one foreign made pistol was recovered from him,” said Superintendent of Police (SP), West Bijoy Nag who is actively engaged to the investigation of the case.

He also said that the widow Gopa Debnath had sold her land at Badharghat and later after the final deal with the new owner Gopa was found engaged to money transaction in presence of the bank staffs and other family members in her brother’s house at Badharghat near the stadium complex.

At the meantime the accused mafia Goutam Chakroborty managed to enter her house and asked for money which he was supposed to get from her expired husband, but later after she refused to pay the money he attacked her brutally and let her down in the ground floor from the living room.

Scuffling with her mafia Goutal Chakroborty took out his pistol and was about to fire on her but the local getting an alarm rushed to the spot and managed to disarm him, said police officer.

Besides, according to the locals of Badhargahat widow Gopa Debnath who fell victim to the incident had sold her land to one Bipul Majumder who is the owner of Swarupananda Medical Hall Shop in Agartala.

She was later immediately taken to the Hapania Government Medical College with her condition critical as she was brutally injured during the scuffling took place in her house.

However, the incident had triggered a huge resentment among the locals of Agartala as the Independence Day is coming near. The AD Nagar Police detained the accused mafia Goutam Chakroborty immediately after the incident.
