AGARTALA, August 9 (TIWN): Corruption tainted Tripura is again under the scanner of corruption for mislay of money and recently serious embezzlement of money is reported from the Agriculture Department with the involvement of newly appointed Director and Principal Secretary.It is alleged that, the duo including Director Deba Prasad sarkar and Principal Secretary GSG Ayyengar is accused of involvement in the deep hand corruption has embezzled crores of money in the name of buying Microbiological fertilizers for the department.Allegedly, an amount of 3 crores of money is being grabbed in the name of buying Microbiological fertilizers where as only 50 lakh is sanctioned and if the amount increases from 50 lakh it has to be gradually informed to Supply advisory committee .Speaking to TIWN correspondent Birajit Sinha, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president on Saturday said that corruption has gripped all under the ruling party in Tripura and the left front government is openly cheating the people of the state and is not doing anything for the welfare of the state. “We are scrutinizing the papers to dig out how much of public fund is being misplaced and if require we will produce the matter before the courtâ€, added Sinha.
Sources confirmed that without informing the Supply advisory committee which is headed by Chief Secretary the duo managed to arrange the tender for the microbiological fertilizers.
It may be mentioned here that, many newspapers have reported about his involvements in different corruptions which was going round the corner. During his earlier deputation term on inter-cadre deputation, Dr. Ayyangar, was repatriated to the state over his alleged involved in the timers scandal, which rocked the municipal administration department of Hyderabad.
The alleged corruption took place while Dr. Ayyangar was working as director, personnel and administration, Singareni Collieries Company Limited. Dr. GSG was in the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad and was reportedly responsible for purchasing the timers used for street lights at an exorbitant price compared to market rates.
Apart the Vigilance & Enforcement (V&E) probe into the timer scandal has nailed four IAS officers including G S G Ayyangar
The probe was initiated after the government ordered an inquiry into the purchase of 7,002 timer devices at an exorbitant price of Rs 8.12 crore by the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad.
The V&E has in its report has also recommended booking criminal cases against Ayyangar.
However, the sources further confirmed that it took huge amount of time to figure out such embezzlement of public money resulting the farmers deprived of fertilizers.
