AGARTALA, August 8 (TIWN): The state government had so far issued a show cause notice to at least eight teachers of several government schools across the state, the monsoon assembly session was informed recently. Education Minister Tapan Chakroborty replying to the question of the opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath had announced this. However, the issue had come up just after the ban on private tuition practice by the government teachers has rocked the guardians’ forum.

Minister said that the government has served notice to teachers of four different government schools of West District, two schools of Sepahijala District and one school in South District. Amitabha Majumder of Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Tapash Mitra and Pankaj Das of Umakanta Academy, Mrinal Kanti Ghosh of Umakanta Academy English Medium School, Dhruva Sinha of Bishalgarh English Medium School, Abhijit Chakraborty of Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School, Kamal Kanti Pal of Chalita Bankul Higher Secondary School and Adhip Bhowmik of Melagarh Higher Secondary School got the show cause notices.

The Students’ Guardian Forum on Thursday demanded the Tripura High Court to legalize the private tuition by the government teachers for at least three years in view of better future of the student. However, hearing the case on August 6 the HC had decided to give the final verdict on its next hearing on August 20.

Interestingly, despite the state government had put several notices towards restricting the private tuition, no change has been brought yet today rather the number has increased leaving the students make bee storming gathering in front of the private tutors house.

In this point of view minister had earlier clarified that the school education department had so far not been able to take action against the private tuition due to the lack of complaints.

He said, “We have not received any complaints in this regard as the teachers who are engaged to the private tuitions do not comes out admitting the fact that they are engaged to the private practices in return of hefty amount.”
