UDAIPUR, August 4 (TIWN): Resentment brewed up among the creeper truck drivers when the local mafia’s of Udaipur Palatana area attacked the drivers on Sunday evening.

The mafia’s allegedly stopped the 38 trucks in the middle of the road and asked them to pay extra money for crossing at Udaipur-Sonamura road.

Reportedly, the trucks were carrying stone chips from Akhuara Check post area for renovation of road at Udaipur.

However, panic grew when some local mafia’s stopped them in the road and asked the drivers to pay extra money or else they will not be allowed to cross the road.

Panic grew among the drivers when the mafia’s threatened them to pay me. The drivers stated that they are not supposed to pay any extra money for unloading stone chips.

All together 38 trucks stranded in Udaipur-Sonamura road, when the mafia gang stopped the trucks and demanded hefty amount of money from the drivers.

The drivers denied to pay any money and got into scuffle with the mafias.

However, getting no clue out of the situation the drivers staged road blockade and demanded immediate arrest of the mafia gang.

Traffic was disrupted for more than two hours when the drivers staged protest near Khiroda Sundari anganwadi centre.

Traffic was thrown out of gear at Udaipur-Sonamura road for more than two hours.

This is for the first time that such untoward incident has happened and a youth mafia gang has stopped the drivers and demanded money, said a driver.

Getting alarm, the Kakrabon police reached the spot and assured the drivers that the mafia’s will no more block the road and asked them to withdraw the road blockade.

However, getting assurance from the police the drivers withdrew their protest and let the traffic move swiftly.

The mafias however flew from the spot and police is further investigating the case
