AGARTALA, August 3 (TIWN):: BSF have stopped extra interference at Kamalasagar border haat, bringing to end of harassment on vistors . The vistors were able to enter the haat without harassments and marketed freely on Thursday. Bishalghar sub division took charge of issuing visitor’s cards and making entry in registers. Now BSF will frisk the visitors, earlier the visitors who used to for marketing was reportedly unnecessarily harassed by BSF in the name of security. After the opening of border haat , tussle between BSF and visitors have become a regular feature. The visitors from Indian side were unable to enter the haat for marketing. The vendors could not sell their things causing monetary loss to vendors.
The Kamala Sagar border haat, 35km southwest of Agartala town in Bishalgarh subdivision, was operationalised today by senior officials of India and Bangladesh through a simple function within the haat complex.
This border haat, second to be operationalised after the Srinagar haat in Sabroom subdivision along the Tripura-Bangladesh border, will function on Thursdays every week and 25 vendorsraders each from both India and Bangladesh will carry on transactions there.
Twenty-five vendors each from both sides within a 5km radius of the border haat will be permitted to transact business every Thursday between 9.30am and 3.30p
