AGARTALA, August 2 (TIWN): Awful condition has hit the Agartala-karimganj railway service. Only one train is there which travels between Agartala to karimganj and Karimganj to Agartala. With the beginning of the Broad-Gauge (BG) conversion work it is expected that the train service from Agartala to karimganj and Karimganj to Agartala will remain suspended from October 1. With only one train running from the two spot has resulted such crisis in the railway service. It is seen that people stands in long queue in front of the station to occupy seats in the train compartment. Starting from aged, young to pregnant ladies all waits for long hours to get inside the train. As there is less number of compartment in train the passenger’s rushes in hurry to occupy seats. Even the children run in hurry in the platform which may lead to accident at any moment. As there is only train from these spot, there is huge rush of passengers. MG Special pair passenger train starts from Agartala and Karimganj at 9.30 am everyday and it reaches to the destinations at 5.30 pm every day to facilitate movement of Tripura travelers in high terrine.

Agartala had been connected in railway map in October 2008 in metre gauge track and railway line has been expanding up to southern point of the state, Sabroom. However, NFR has undertaken the work to convert the line to broad gauge from Lumding.

Day after day the service is creating a mess for the problem but the authority is silent over this issue.
