Dhalai district gears up for the Independence Day celebration

AGARTALA/DHALLAI, July 27 (TIWN): keeping eye on the India's 69th Independence Day on 15 August many cultural program and games are scheduled for the celebration of day with enthusiasm.

Dhallai district administration recently in a meeting decided that the celebration of the Independence Day will include several cultural activities followed by sports events, said Additional District Magistrate Sunil Debbarma.

As a part of the program Sports events will be conducted between 10th august to 14th August including events like Badminton Tournament, Cross country race between man and woman separately, women’s football match and Swimming competition.

Quiz competition among the school children’s, cleaning mission, sit and draw competition will also be observed as a part of the celebration.

Cultural programmes featuring classical music and dance performances by top artistes will be organized at several places.

Security personnel will conduct thorough checks at the auto stations and buses, sniffer dogs close at hand. Vehicles plying on the roads will also be checked for any suspicious contents.

In almost all the schools and colleges around the state, no academic work will be done on this day, but all the students and staff members will gather in their respective institutions to celebrate Independence Day. The flag hoisting ceremony will take place followed by the National Anthem. After this various cultural activities like folk dances, skits and dramas are held in schools and colleges and the celebration will continue till late evening.

Tripura is ready to celebrate her 69th year of Independence on August 15 this year. Every year, Independence Day is marked by tributes paid to our freedom fighters, and flag-hoisting ceremonies all over the country. The main event for Tripura will take place at Agartala, where the Chief Minister will host the National Flag and will deliver a speech.

India celebrates Independence Day on August 15 each year, as the country became an independent nation on August 15, 1947. A gazette holiday is held annually to remember this date. 

On this day, people pay homage to their leaders and those who fought for the country's freedom. The Independence Day is a time when major government buildings are illuminated with strings of lights and the tricolor flutters from homes and other buildings.
