KHOWAI, July 25 (TIWN): The body of 75-year-old woman was found on Saturday morning at around 7am near Chakbe village in the embankment of Khowai River, according to the police.
The police has identified the body, and said that it was the body of Saraswati Das (75), wife of Bisheshwar Das and a resident of Teliamura.
Getting the information, Superintendent of police Ratiranjan Debnath, Sub divisional police officer Rajib Sengupta, Officer In-charge Narayan Chakraborty and other rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The body has been further taken for the post-mortem.
When asked about the incident to Surjya Das (35), son of Saraswati Das, he said that his mother was missing from July 20, 2015 after she went to take bath in a stream at South Polingpur village.
Due to continuous rain, on the concern day the water of the stream was running above the regular level. When the woman was taking bath her leg slipped and she has fallen in to the stream. As due to the high resistance of water after her slipped in to the water she was swept away by water.
Enhancing the issue he said that when his mother as not returning home for long time they went to the spot but could not find her except her belongings.
The family members then registered a missing complaint at the Teliamura Police Station.
Later, after 5 days of search for the missing Saraswati Das, her body was found from the embankment of of Khowai River near Chakbe village of Pohormura.
The police recovered the body and after post-mortem they returned the body to the family members. After the horrifying incident, tension gripped among the locals of the area and precautions are being taken while perfrmo0ng work near river side and streams.
